Abhishek Iyengar

Abhishek Iyengar is a playwright, director, actor, and co-founder of WeMove Theatre, one of Bengaluru’s prominent contemporary theatre groups. He began his professional journey in the field of software engineering before making a bold transition into the world of performing arts, choosing theatre as his lifelong passion.

Over the past 21+ years, Abhishek has been deeply involved in the creation, direction, and performance of more than 14 original productions and over 350 live stage shows. Through WeMove Theatre, he has played a key role in shaping modern Kannada and Indian theatre, focusing on powerful storytelling, original scripts, and experimental stagecraft.

His work reflects a strong commitment to keeping theatre relevant in the modern entertainment landscape, even as digital platforms and cinema continue to evolve. He has contributed significantly to building an independent theatre ecosystem in Bengaluru, nurturing both artistic expression and community-driven performances.
